Japanese larch This larch started out from a seedling purchased from Taki Nagasawa's Green River Nursery in the early '70's. For several years it was part of a forest group. After a time the group disbanded and each went their separate ways, this one went into the ground for several years to increase the size of the trunk. It's been in a pot for 20 years now and stands as a single sentry.

Juniper This is a collected Sierra juniper estimated age four hundred plus years. Note the foliage! not exactly sierra foliage huh! Three shimpaku grafts were attached in 1973 by Dan Robinson of Elandan Gardens.

Hokkaido elm This is the smallest leafed elm in the world. This specimen came from Carl Young's Nursery SEIJU EN in Lodi California. It was large field grown stock that Carl was known for. The owner purchased it in the early 1980's and has styled it since then. The style? how about the Serengeti plain tree style?

Podocarpus A podocarpus is also called the Buddha Pine, this tree was imported from China in 1995 by Natures Way Nursery in Pennsylvania. It now resides in the state of Oregon.

Mountain hemlock This eighty year old double trunk hemlock is a collected tree. It has been in training four years. It was collected by Anton in the Spring of 1999.
