Puget Sound Bonsai Association

 Message to New Members

How the club works: PSBA exists to educate its members and the public in the art and culture of bonsai. The club sponsors regular meetings with demonstrations and guest artist workshops to provide a forum for bonsai enthusiasts to learn and share bonsai techniques. We encourage all members to attend meetings regularly and to participate in the guest artist workshops.

Officers of the club and Board members are nominated by a nominating committee appointed by the President. Committee chairs are appointed by the Board. The club needs your support to function best. Please get involved by volunteering for service positions as they come open. Positions opening up will be posted on the web site regularly. Please contact the President or Vice-President if you have interest in a particular position.

In addition to the positions noted above there are many opportunities to volunteer your help. Come early to the meetings and help set-up, or stay after a few minutes to help clean up. Docents (those who tend trees during shows and answer questions from visitors) are needed yearly for both the Flower & Garden Show as well as the annual PSBA Spring Show.

Volunteering to help allows the club to fulfill its mission. Many of us have found that volunteering also helps to connect the member with the club and form a bond with other members.

We look forward to your help!

Each year PSBA provides a workshop series to its new members. These workshops are taught by experienced PSBA members and are free to the new members with a tree, pot, and all other supplies provided free of charge. It is our hope that these workshops will provide a comprehensive introduction to the art of bonsai that will help make the new members feel more knowledgeable and welcome.
