Juniper

The juniper before styling.

Selecting the front.

Sketching the juniper as I hope it will appear when initial styling is complete.

The plan is to use just three of the several live trunks, selecting those that have a similar movement. The size proportion between the trunks is very pleasing, and the more horizontal attitude of the smaller trunks counter balances the greater visual mass of the more nearly vertical main trunk. The progression of right-flowing trunks sets up a visual rhythm that unifies the entire composition, while the dead wood elements create directional and textural contrast for interest.

This will become the back of the tree. A lot of material will have to be removed.
