Monday, March 27th, 2023 - General Meeting with Guest Artist Julian Tsai

Julian Tsai of “JustBonsai” will be our March Guest Artist

Julian’s program, “Penjing vs. Bonsai” will emphasize sustainability in bonsai, and developing age in cultivation.

Julian Tsai is a bonsai professional and artist based out of Southern California. After quickly finding his passion in bonsai, he traveled to Japan in 2018 to pursue an apprenticeship under Keiichi Fujikawa of Fujikawa Kouka-en. His experience there gave him a strong foundation in both evergreen and deciduous techniques through both development and refinement. Although there is sometimes a strong impression of expedited refinement in Japanese bonsai, trees there have been developed properly for many years. Julian puts an emphasis on horticulture and technique that enables sustainable design. After returning at the onset of COVID, he started operating professionally to provide collection and educational based services through his business, "justBonsai."

Julian also collaborates with other professionals including John Wang and Peter Tea, and seeks to continuously evolve his skillset. He looks forward to working with everyone to share his passion!
